Choices

I made an RPG action - aventure type of platformer.

The player plays a chocobo-like creature that can evolve into 3 differents shapes (egg, chick and rooster).

Each form has unique characteristics.




Egg

Horizontal mobility

Wood box - Lever interactions





Chick

Horizontal mobility - Jump - Dash

Wood & Metal boxes - Lever interactions

Close - Combat attack





Rooster

Horizontal mobility -  Double Jump

Wood & Metal boxes - Lever - Target interactions

Close - Combat & Ranged attacks





Map

I created different types of levels to challenge the different forms of my character.

For the egg form, I considered using mostly horizontal pathing and little to no enemy.

For the chick form, I added verticality and a variety of close combat enemies to further challenge the player.

For the rooster form, I mixed both aspects of the previous forms and added complexity in the puzzles, aswell as ranged enemies.





Environment Secrets

I wanted to reward more observing players by giving them achievements or bonuses.
