Choices

We decided to make a reflexion based escape game. The player roleplays as a child trapped in a grim hospital that he needs to flee. However, he needs to solve puzzles blocking his way.




Level Design

I wanted to give a feeling of hostility by creating a greyish decayed type of light in a hospital environment.

I dispersed quest items in different type of places (hidden in the vent, on top of a wardrobe, visible) and showed the player's control in the form of child's drawings.



I made the corridor narrow and only decorated with rusty pipes. I reduced the light intensity and added a flicker to one of them to occasionally break the silence, but still reminding the player that the place is in a sorry state.



After exiting the first room, the player can obtain the shadow power in the second room after opening the door at the end. The shadow power enables him to teleport between shadow spots and create small platforms in it. After unlocking the shadow power, the player will have to go back through the same room but with a different route, as he can no longer walk under light because of his new abilities.





Console Puzzle

The first puzzle involves finding 4 keys and placing them in a correct order into a console to open the door. They are placed so that the player learns the basic controls (move, jump, crouch, turn the camera).





Light Path Puzzle

In order to access to the door, the player has to walk on the right path. For that, he needs to find the 3 different parts of the path and put it on a projector to see it clearly on the wall.
